Permanent Secretary, Office of the Attorney-General and Ministry of Justice - Mrs Mariatu Browne Mrs Mariatu Browne is a graduate from Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone with a BSc (Hons) in Economic and Social Studies. She holds a Master of Science Degree in Agricultural Economics from Njala University College, University of Sierra Leone. Mrs Browne was appointed Administrative Officer (cadet) into the Administrative Service of the Sierra Leone Government Civil Service on 27th November, 1995. Since her appointment, she has worked in various Ministries of Government including Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Marine Resources (1995-2004); Western Area Rural District Council (2004-2006); Ministry of Tourism and Culture (2006-2008); Ministry of Finance and Economic Development (2008-2014); Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (2014-2016); Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs (2015-2016); Office of the Attorney-General and Ministry of Justice (2016 to date) Mrs Browne has vast knowledge and experience in Personnel matters, Budget preparation and Implementation, Project Implementation, Procurement, Development Planning and Policy formulation. She was among the first set of Administrators assigned to help set up the newly re-established Local Councils in Sierra Leone in 2004. She was Deputy Chief Administrator at the Western Area Rural District Council (WARD-C). At WARD-C, she spear headed the preparation of the first Local Council Development Plan and MTEF Budget. During her five years postings to the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development, she participated in the negotiation and signing of the West Africa Agricultural Productivity Project, Small Holder Commercialization Project, Rural and Private Sector Development Project, Rehabilitation and Community-Based Poverty Reduction Project (RCPRP) Rural Finance and Community Improvement Project (RFCIP). Under the Voice Secondment Programme of the World Bank, Mrs Browne worked closely with the Sustaining Natural Capital Project (SNC) team in Washington D.C to produce the April 2009 SNC Bulletin and organize a national workshop on the adoption of the SNC initiative in Sierra Leone. Mrs Browne has attended a lot of workshops/Seminars/Courses including but not limited to Strategic Leadership and Change Management IPAM, University of Sierra Leone (2010); Fundamentals of Bank Operations (World Bank,2009); Financing Strategy Analysis workshop (WAIFEM 2008); Macroeconomic Policies for Employment Creation (WAIFEM 2008); Integrated workshop on Revenue Mobilization, Budget Preparation and Procurement Methods for Local Councils (LGFD, MOFED 2005); Specialization Course on Agricultural Policy Analysis in Africa (IDEP 2001); Gender-Responsive Economic Policy Management (IDEP 2010); Seminar on Economic Development and Climate Change (Academy of Macroeconomic Research of National Development and Reform Commission, China 2010); National Project Implementation workshop (African Development Institute of the ADB2008); Project Performance Enhancement Tool (African Development Institute of the ADB 2011).
